![]() If we know that the random numbers generated will fall in the interval then we'd like each number in that interval to have an equal chance of being chosen - otherwise even though theoretically we have a lot of numbers to be chosen in practice this will be much smaller. Nothing that special here - we want something that can generate a reproducible large quantity of random numbers fast and without taking up too much memory, particularly if we plan on having many of them running in various threads. Which then begs the next question: What properties of PRNGs are desirable?
